Anastasia Petrova speaks at international AI regulation events during WAIC 2026 in Shanghai

Anastasia Petrova, Counsel at ALRUD, took part in a series of international events on artificial intelligence regulation held in Shanghai from 17 to 20 July 2026 as part of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and the accompanying High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance.

The key event was the closed-door Global AI Compliance Workshop – the first expert discussion following the launch of the Global AI Legal Infrastructure (GALI) platform. The workshop brought together around 80 participants: executives from leading technology companies, representatives of law firms and regulators from nearly ten jurisdictions, including Russia, China, the European Union, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and the UAE. Anastasia Petrova spoke at the workshop and contributed to the discussion of legal issues arising at every stage of the AI system lifecycle.

GALI is an initiative of CAICT, implemented jointly with AIIA. The platform aims to reduce fragmentation in global AI regulation and improve the transparency of compliance requirements for companies operating in international markets. ALRUD is a contributor of the platform regarding AI legal regulation in Russia.

At the Win-Win BRICS Forum, dedicated to cooperation among BRICS countries in artificial intelligence, Anastasia Petrova gave an interview on AI regulation in the context of cross-border cooperation. The discussion focused on the legal and compliance challenges companies face as national regulation develops alongside cross-border technologies.

A separate session, the Agentic AI Governance Forum, addressed the governance of agentic AI systems: the allocation of liability for autonomous AI actions and the oversight and supervision of such systems throughout their lifecycle.

Participation in international forums enables ALRUD to monitor how regulatory approaches to AI are taking shape across key jurisdictions and to factor this context into advising clients developing technologies in cross-border markets.
